Chapter 15

She protests, “No, not without Jenos, and not without my father’s bloodstone ring.” “Mackenzie, Jenos is dead, there’s nothing we could do with the body. It’s better to leave him here.” She shakes her head. “No, he deserves better than to be tied up left for dead with the werewolves.” Fin sighs, grabs the ring, and cuts the restraints on Jenos’ wrists and ankles. Mackenzie gets up and leans on Finvarra for support. Fin carries Jenos on his other shoulder and hands Mackenzie the ring as they walk back to his house.

Mackenzie begins to think about what had occurred tonight. While yes they had managed to destroy the threat from the werewolves, she had lost Jenos in the process. She was left alone again. She shakes her head as she continues to think. “No, Fin doesn’t count, he’s family. I’m alone because I have no one outside family yet again. I helped kill the man that wanted to be close.” Finvarra looks at her. “Are you alright Kenzie?” She shakes her head. “I’m alright, just lost in thought.”

He nods as she continues thinking. “Lost, yes, I’m lost. Everything seemed to be completely under my control with Jenos, now, it seems like nothing is under it. I had to summon Odin to kill off my opponent, and Fin had to attack him to allow me to summon Odin.” She sighs, “Life seems boring now that he’s gone. I can’t play off of his emotions, I can’t confuse him by my flirting.”

She starts to finger the ring, and as she looks at it, she realizes what she can do. “Yes, I’ll resurrect him. Then, I can have him with me. I must wait until I regain strength though. Soon, soon I’ll have him back.”
